The Stop Heel Lift .com team had a little cheeky 4 days Snowboarding in Chamonix in April this year. Here's the view from the top of the Aiguille du Midi cable car just going through the gate to the dangerous bit! We of course had a guide supplied by Evolution 2 Chamonix and only cost 63 Euros each for 6 of us plus the uplift and train down.
We travelled from London Luton using Easy Jet. Watch out for the baggage charges as it costs £60 extra per snowboard bag so we put a few in just a couple of bags and the rest of us just took the main luggage hold all making sure each was under 20kg.
We had a cool mobile phone ski app running to record the fun. We all love data don't we! App is 'Ski Tracks' by core coders ltd. Find it in your app store. Cost us 79p. Well worth it.
We stayed in a fantastic compact yet spacious chalet right in town called Chalet Chamonix Coeur Des Alps which had warm showers (always a bonus) 3 balconies and slept 8 of us easy peasy.
Transfers were seamless as usual with the driver waiting for us right there on arrival. Thank you Wayne @ Cham-Van.com always a pleasure!
Here's a shot showing our tracks on a pretty nice section just before the long flat-ish run out.
Oh the bit they don't tell you is there are about 300m of steps at the end to reach a short cable car to the train that takes you back to Chamonix town centre. MAN those steps are hard work on the legs after the long journey down but the ice cave at the bottom is nice and helps to cool you down from the spring sunshine!
So, the Vallee Blanche - a definite tick box finally done and a fabulous time had by all. I'd love to mention all the bars we entertained but the list would be too long, plus I don't really remember alot of them. Till next time Chamonix...
